Hello and welcome to the 2011 Hop for a Cure blog hop. We are running this fun crop and hop to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Every hour of every day, someone is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, the most severe form of a disease that annually accounts for more than $100 billion in health care costs in the U.S. alone. Usually striking before the age of 30, type 1 diabetes takes a harsh toll on people. Not only will they be insulin-dependent for life, but devastating life-limiting and life-shortening complications such as blindness, amputation, heart disease and stroke, and kidney failure are an ever-present threat. Insulin is not a cure for the disease—it is merely life support.

Type 1 diabetes is destructive both to children and to childhood. Controlling the disease requires 24/7/365 vigilance and imposes a grueling regimen. It includes eating a carefully calculated diet, checking blood glucose levels several times each day (by lancing a finger) and insulin injections—as many as six per day—or delivery of insulin through a pump just to stay alive. It means children and families living by the clock, day and night, for the rest of their lives—lives that turn out to average about 15 years less than normal.

You can't outgrow type 1 diabetes. As JDRF International Chairman Mary Tyler Moore has said, "Diabetes is an all too personal time bomb which can go off today, tomorrow, next year, or ten years from now—a time bomb affecting millions...one which must be defused." The only solution is a cure. That's why JDRF has a singular mission: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research as soon as possible.

I am very excited to announce that the 2011 Crop out Diabetes event will be held at the Wave Ballroom in Appleton, WI and we are extending the event this year! Instead of 9 hours we are going to crop for 12 hours!!!!!

Join us for the 5th annual Crop out Diabetes! All proceeds from our event benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Reserved crop space, Goodie Bag filled with awesome products, Auction, Raffles, Door Prizes, Lunch, Dinner, scrapbooking rummage sale (please bring any un-wanted supplies to donate to the rummage sale), special give-a-ways and offers by our vendors.

Hello everyone!!! I am excited to be getting started on the planning for the 2011 event. This year in addition to the live crop in Wisconsin; I am planning a super fun blog hop.

With a $5 minimum donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; participants can follow a fun line up of great blogs! Hop from one blog to the next checking out some fun challenges with some awesome give-a-ways! Kind of an online crop with a twist!

Woot...Woot....another great success!

The 2010 Crop took place yesterday at the Little Chute Civic Center yesterday (February 6th, 2010). We had a blast and raised around $3000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (I have to recount and wait for the online crop to wrap up....and then I will have an exact total for you :) )

Some of the highlights of the day were:
The Make n' Take provided by Shelley Olson was a big hit. She had these cute little paper milk cartons that we made and filled with candy. I think everyone made one.

Another big hit was the generous donation of a 6"x12"piece of vinyl donated by Expressions Vinyl to every goody bag. Some ladies were not sure what it was for.....but.....once one lady came up to the cricut and we cut out a fun design....when word spread....we had a line waiting to cut out a vinyl decal for family rooms, bathrooms, outdoor signs, car windows, and more! Enjoy ladies! If you take a photo of your vinyl sign or hanging on your wall, I would love to add it to the blog!

Hello! I have had a few questions and would like to post the answers here in case anyone else in intersted.

Are there outlets available for plugging in a cricut machine?

We have 12 outlets between the two rooms; so there should be plenty of places to plug in your machine. If you would like to make a note on your registration form stating you are bringing a machine; I will make sure you have a spot saved near an outlet.

Please note how many croppers you are planning on sitting with so I can reserve enough spots near each other.

How much space does each cropper receive with registration?

We have 36 6-foot tables. We will be putting two tables together to form a square. There will be 4 croppers per 6-foot square.

I have officially started planning the 2009 crop. I will be joining other states as Crop out Diabetes has gone national and will be holding crops all over the USA on the same date. The crop will be held on Saturday February 7, 2009! Mark your calendars and keep checking back for updates.

So we had the crop yesterday and it was awesome! We raised just over $3000 for JDRF! All of the ladies had an awesome time and are ready to hear about the next crop out! I am planning on holding the next crop out in February 2009 and I would like to make it an overnight crop. It would be an optional 12 or 24 hour crop. I will work on details and let you know when things are confirmed!

Hello! So far we have a head count of 50. I have 70 goody bags available, so the next 20 people who register will receive a goody bag.

Once the goody bags are gone, registrations will still be accepted, but I can not offer you a goody bag. But....there are SO MANY awesome give-aways and offers that will be available that it will still be worth it! And remember....all of the money that is made will be donated to an awesome cause!

I believe JDRF is very, very close to finding a cure and your dollars can help!

We have a large space set aside for us that the Radisson Paper Valley hotel has graciously provided.

Keep sending in those registrations, this is going to be so much fun!

CROP OUT DIABETES

Crop out Diabetes is a fundraising event. It will be an all day scrapbooking event of which all proceeds will go to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).

This crop will take place on October 28, 2007 in Appleton, WI.
